THE REFERENCE REGARDING LOCATION OF DIFFERENT HEALTH FACILITIES IN THE PERIPHERY WILL BE THE CENTRE OF HARIPUR CITY.

HEALTH FACILITIES OF DISTRICT HARIPUR

DISTRICT HEADQUARTER HOSPITAL HARIPUR

The DHQ Hospital Haripur consist of two parts as main Hospital in new building about 01 K.M from Haripur city towards west. The Women and Children Hospital is in the city on G.T Road just before the entrance of main Bazar, while heading towards Abbottabad. It is a Type-B Hospital with 210 beds and constructed over an area of 198 Kanals. The hospital started its function in new building 10/06/2008. The Hospital staff position filled, vacant is annexed as annexure “A”. The following specialties exists in Hospital and services are delivered to people of District Haripur.

MEDICAL: -

There are two District Specialists working 7/24 in Hospital. The hospital has 30 beds 15 each male and female patients + 10 TB beds and both Wards are in one block separated as ground floor and first floor.

SURGICAL : -

Two District Surgical Specialists with three qualified Medical Officers are working in the Surgical Departments except the one District Surgical Specialist of BPS-19 who is on leave from last 03 years 30 bedded surgical block with two separate wards of 15 beds each i.e male and female + 10 Orthopedic beds. Four new Operation Theaters are well equipped and fully functional.

ENT DEPARTMENT: -

One ENT Specialist is working and running a ward of 30 beds for male and female patients  and is run by ENT Specialist all alone without MO. Both the OPD as well as the operative services of delivered to community.

 

 

EYE DEPARTEMTN:-

Two District Specialist are working and running 15 bedded ward for male and female patients without any MO and providing services both OPD indoor and surgical.

CARDIOLOGY DEPARTMENT: -

One Cardiologist is working and running the Cardiology ward of 10 beds. Without any MO and specialized nursing staff. The wards are equipped with monitors ECG, Defibrillator, and other necessary equipments and emergency medicine.

PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT:-

One District Psychiatrist is providing services in out patient department and the patients needing admission are admitted in Medical ward.

DERMATOLOGY DEPARTMENT: -

No District Dermatologist is posted but one qualified SMO is providing out patient services and admitting needy patients in medical ward.

GYNAE DEPARTMENT:-

This is working and Women and Children Hospital which is situated in the heart of city on G.T road with two District Gynecologist and two qualified WMOs running 20 bedded ward and OPD services + 24 hours labour room services with the help of two WMOs. One OT is working in Women and Children Hospital. The old ten bedded ward needs renovation to be restarted.

PAEDIATRICT DEPARTMENT : -

Two district Paediatrition and one qualified SMO are working in the Paediatric Department of DHQ in W&C Hospital with 20 bedded ward without any MO. Incubators are available but no nursery is established due to lack of budget for renovation and conversion of old Children Block as nursery, however for this purpose District Govt. is again approached despite fruitless previous efforts.

I.C.U

One 07 bedded well equipped ward is established in W&C Hospital and is look after by all the Specialists who’s ever patients are admitted.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT :-

Two emergencies are operational at a time 24 hourly, one the heavy loaded is of the emergency of Women and Children Hospital and second in new building of DHQ Hospital of Dheenda road. The emergency department is providing emergency cover, Medico legal services as well as services of ailing routine OPD cases after the working hours. Both emergencies have separate retention wards for male and female emergency patients. The emergency of W & C Hospital is just a few steps from the main entrance of Hospital on G.T road on right side.

OPD DEPARTMENT: -

Two OPD blocks are operational. The one huge block of for OPD was constructed in new DHQ Hospital and other old block in W&C Hospital is just on the back of I.C.U ward. Offices of EDO (Health), District Coordinators NP and FP, EPI and District Public Health Specialist are also established and working in old building of W&C Hospital.

T.B CENTRE: -

The office of District TB Control Officer alongwith the Diagnostic and treatment Centre is established and working in the old Eye OPD Block in W&C Hospital. The centre is run by DTO and one Medical Officer as focal person.

DENTISTRY DEPARTMENT: -

One Sr.Dental Surgeon BPS-19 and two Dental Surgeons BPS-17 and two Dental Technicians are providing the services of Dentistry as well as Medico legal support.

 

IMMUNIZATION SERVICES

Two EPI Centre one in DHQ Hospital new building and one in W&C Hospital are established and providing routine immunization services.

DIALYSIS UNIT

There are 04 machines purchased and installed in Pathology Block with four beds.

AMBULANCE SERVICES

Two new Ambulances are providing Ambulance services for the transportation of serious patients to tertiary care Hospitals.

DIAGNOSTIC DEPARTMENT: -

1. RADIOLOGY

Two separate Radiology block exists one in new DHQ Hospital and the other in Women and Children Hospital. The block constructed in new DHQ Hospital building has sufficient space for C.T scan and MRI (both facilities are not available at present). However two X-Ray machines are functioning in DHQ Hospital and one W&C Hospital.

The Radiology Department is working without Radiologist from last five years after the post was vacated by transfer of Ex: Radiologist.

X-Ray Technicians are working in full capacity.

All type of X-Rays are done.

Ultra sonography services are provided through a trained WMO and are limited up to pelvic Ultra sound only as there is no Radiologist so other services are not in the capacity of WMO to be provided.

 

 

2. Laboratory

Two Laboratories are working in the two Hospitals and services of routine test like blood CP, urine RE, Typhoid, Malaria, TB Dots, Hepatitis B & C and HIV are provided through the Laboratory Technicians. The other specialized services are not provided due to lack of expertise i.e no pathologist is ever posted in DHQ Hospital Haripur. Though a huge block with all necessary modern equipment exists in the DHQ Hospital.

3. ECG SERVICES

In DHQ Hospital and in WCH Hospital are provided.
TYPE-D HOSPITALS

TYPE-D HOSPITALS GHAZI

 

 

This hospital was upgraded from RHC to Type-D Hospital in 2006-07 and is constructed on an area of 85 Kanals. It is situated toward west of Haripur about 40 K.M via Sirikot and 70 K.M via Larnes Pur. The staff position is annexed as Annexure “B”. The newly constructed building was taken over and is fully equipped. Its catchments population about 40000. The health facility provides the following services.

1. OPD

2. Indoor Services by admitting patients in 02 wards each of 20 beds for male and female patients.

3. Dental Services

4. MCH Services

5. Immunization Services

6. X-Ray of all kinds

7. Laboratory (Blood CP, Urine RE, Blood Sugar, Sputum for AFB and Widal Test).

 

PROBLEMS / REQUIREMENT:

The boundary wall needs elevation of at least 03 feet.

Residential building needs repair

Drainage system of new block needs repair / opening

 

 

 

TYPE-D HOSPITALS KHANPUR

This hospital was upgraded from RHC to Type-D Hospital in 2006-07 and is constructed on an area of 40 Kanals. It is situated toward south of Haripur about 30 K.M on Haripur Taxila Road via Khanpur on right side of the road at the start of Khanpur town while heading towards Taxila after the Khanpur Dam lake. Its catchments population is about 60000. The staff position is annexed as Annexure “C”. The newly constructed building was taken over and is fully equipped. The health facility provides the following services.

1. OPD

2. Indoor Services by admitting patients in 02 wards each of 20 beds for male and female patients.

3. Dental Services

4. MCH Services

5. Immunization Services

6. X-Ray of all kinds

7. Laboratory (Blood CP, Urine RE, Blood Sugar, Sputum for AFB and Widal Test).

 

Problems / requirements:

In the recent incident two month back, the new building windows and door glasses alongwith some instruments were damaged and Ambulance alongwith MO Incharge private vehicle was burnt down to ashes.

Repair of new building alongwith provision of new Ambulance is needed costing about 30 Lacs.

 

 

TYPE-D HOSPITALS KHANPUR

This hospital was upgraded from RHC to Type-D Hospital in 2012-13 and is constructed on an area of 40 Kanals. The health facility provides the following services.

1. OPD

2. Indoor Services by admitting patients in 02 wards each of 20 beds for male and female patients.

3. Dental Services

4. MCH Services

5. Immunization Services

6. X-Ray of all kinds

7. Laboratory (Blood CP, Urine RE, Blood Sugar, Sputum for AFB and Widal Test).

 

RURAL HEALTH CENTRES (RHCs): -

There are 06 Rural Health Centres in the District. Out of these one RHC Srai Nehmat Khan is upgraded to Type-D Hospital and its newly constructed building for Type-D Hospital is taken over but is not functional due to non sanction of staff as well as non purchase of equipment and furniture so it is also working as RHC at present.

As the staff sanction is not separate for each RHC but is as lump sum for all RHCs under the Head of HR-6118, so the staff position of all the facilities is annexed as Annexure “D” stating categories with BPS, sanctioned posts, filled and vacant.

1. RHC KOT NAJIBULLAH

It is 12 K.M towards south west of Haripur on Haripur Hattar Taxila road on left side just in front of Police station Kot Najibullah. It is constructed on an area of about 15 Kanals. Its catchments population is about  35000. It has 03 wards two old each of 05 beds for female and male patients and one newly constructed ward of 14 beds which was never operational due to lack of beds and furniture as well as staff. There are residences for MO, WMO and Class-III and IV staff. It has one mortuary for postmortem.

Facilities provided to the people are: -

Problems / requirements:

The hospital was burnt and damaged by the public some four years back.

The damaged building needs repair.

Purchase of furniture for the hospital

Repair and renovation of 14 bedded ward alongwith at least 16 beds.

2. RHC SIRIKOT

It is 20 K.M towards west of Haripur on Haripur Ghazi road via Sirikot on right side. It is constructed on an area of about 10 Kanals. Its catchments population is about  25000. It has 02 wards each of 05 beds for female and male patients There are residences for MO, WMO and Class-III and IV staff.

Facilities provided to the people are: -

3. RHC HALLI

It is 50 K.M towards south east of Haripur on link road of Haripur Khanpur Taxila  road. The link road leading to Kohalla branches out from left side of the above said road at Tarnawa. It is constructed on an area of about 06 Kanals. Its catchments population is about 15000. It was constructed by the Save the Children USA after a MOU signed by the community, Health Department and Save the Children. After constructing the building and provision of equipment & furniture, SC USA handed over the said facility to health Department who then appointed the staff and started it to provide services to the community as per MOU signed.

Facilities provided to the people are: -

4. RHC KALINGER

It is 50 K.M towards North of Haripur on Chappar Road. It is constructed on an area of about 14 Kanals. Its catchments population is about  15000. It was constructed by the Save the Children USA after a MOU signed by the community, Health Department and Save the Children. After constructing the building and provision of equipment & furniture, SC USA handed over the said facility to health Department who then appointed the staff and started it to provide services to the community as per MOU signed.

Facilities provided to the people are: -

5. RHC SRAI NEMAT KHAN

It is 20 K.M towards north east of Haripur on link road branching out from right side of Chappar Road just after river Dore bridge. It is constructed on an area of about 35 Kanals. Its catchments population is about  25000. It has 02 wards each of 05 beds for female and male patients and one new 14 beded ward was constructed which was never run due to shortage of staff, furniture and equipment. There are residences for MO, WMO and Class-III and IV staff. The status of this hospital was declared as Type-D and new building for Type-D was constructed and is taken over but is not functioning as Type-D due to non purchase of equipment, furniture and appointment of staff.

BASIC HEALTH UNITS

There are 39 Basic Health Units in District Haripur. The BHUs are totally Administered by the PPHI after MOU signed by District Govt. and PPHI. In all the BHUs the following facilities are delivered to the community.

2. Vaccination against communicable diseases through EPI

3. MCH Services through LHVs and FMTs

4. Lab Test like Hepatitis B & C, Sugar Test, Hemoglobin Tests

5. In 16 BHUs Ultra Sonography Services are provided through mobile ultra sinologist

Each BHU is constructed on an area of between 06 to 10 Kanals and has residences for MO and para-medics.

The status of BHUs regarding area staff and location is as under: -

The sanctioned, filled and vacant post in budget is annexed as annexure “E” and existing staff position is annexed as annexure “F”.

 

1. BHU AMGAH

It is 35 K.M from Haripur toward west on right side of G.T Road. The link road branches out from Jhari Kas and is a BHU of Tehsil Ghazi. Its catchments population is about 6000.

Minor repair of the building is needed.

 

2. BHU BAGRA

This is about 20 K.M towards east of Haripur on Shah Maqsood Lora road. The road leading to BHU separates from the above said road from village Drukh Shail on left side. Its catchments population is about 15000.

 

3. BHU BAIT GALI

One of 04 BHUs of union council Bait Gali. This a BHU of Tehsil Ghazi and is about 170 K.M via Ghazi towards north of Haripur across the Tarbella Dam lake, it is towards east of Ghazi Town.  The road leads to Bait Gali from Ghazi. Its catchments population is about 5000.

4. BHU BARKOT

It is 80 K.M towards the east of Haripur on right side of Shah Maqsood Lora road. The road leading to BHU Barkot separates from the above said road at Kohala. Its catchments population is about 10000.

It is one of the two BHUs of union council Beer about 40 K.M towards north of Haripur on right side of Chappar Road. Its catchments population is 11000.

6. BHU SIKANDERPUR

It is adjacent to Haripur city towards east of Haripur city. Its catchments population is 20000.

 

7. BHU BANDI SHER KHAN

It is 20 K.M towards the east of Haripur city on link road Srai Saleh to Shah Maqsood Lora road via Rehana. Its catchments population is 10000.

8. BHU MUSLIM ABAD

It is 50 K.M towards the south of Haripur city in hilly area on the link road leading to Muslim Abad from the left side of Haripur Khanpur Taxila road at Tarnawa. Its catchments population is 12000.

9. BHU CHANTRI

One of three BHUs of union council Ludermang and is in hard hilly area. It is one of the 03 BHUs of union council Ludermang 50 K.M towards north of Haripur and is 10 K.M on north side of Beer. Its catchments population is 9000.

10. BHU DARTIAN

It is one of the two BHUs of Union Council Najaf Pur in hilly area 50 K.M towards south of Haripur city and towards the north of Najaf Pur and Muslim Abad. The road leading to BHU branches of from the Tarnawa Muslim Abad road at Najaf Pur on left side. Its catchments population 7000.

11. BHU DINGI

This BHU is declared status of Type-D Hospital and its building is under construction. It is 15 K.M towards west of Haripur on left side of G.T road while heading to Peshawar. Its catchments population is 22000.

 

12. BHU DHEENDA

It is 5 K.M towards west of Haripur city. The road leading to BHU is same as that of newly constructed DHQ Hospital Haripur. Its catchments population is 20000.

13. BHU GHUMAWAIN

It is 35 K.M towards south east of Haripur city in hard hilly area and its catchments population is 20134.

15. BHU GALI AMAZAI

It is one of the two BHUs of union council Pind Kamal Khan 45 K.M towards the south east of Haripur city in hilly area on the left side of Haripur Khanpur Taxila road. Its catchments population is 10000.

17. BHU JATTI PIND

It is 12 K.M towards north east of Haripur city just on left road side of Chappar road. Its catchments population is 16000.

18. BHU KAKOTRI

It is one of the two BHUs of union council Beer 45 K.M towards north east of Haripur city in hilly area on the right side of Chappar Road. The link road leading to Kakotri leaves Chappar road at Jatipind. Its catchments population is 13000.

19. BHU KALINGER

It is 70 K.M towards north of Haripur city in hard hilly area on the right side of Chappar road and the link road to BHU branches out from the right side of Chappar road at Swabi Maira. Its catchments population is 15000.

20. BHU KHOHI NARA

It is 14 K.M from the Haripur city on Haripur Khanpur Taxila road just on the right side of the road. Its catchments population is 15000.

It is one of two BHUs of union council Baka about 15 K.M towards west of Haripur city on the right side of G.T road while heading to Peshawar its catchments population is 7000.

25. BHU KUNDI

It is one of the two BHUs of union council Kundi about 45 K.M towards west of Haripur city on right side of Haripur Ghazi road via Sirikot. Its catchments population is 18000.

26. BHU KOTEHRA

It is one of two BHUs of union council Kotehra about 65 K.M towards the west of Haripur city and about 6 K.M towards south of Ghazi. Its catchments population is 15000.

27. BHU LUDERMONG

It is 18 K.M towards south of Haripur city on left side of Khanpur road with link road leading to the BHU separates from the above said road just one K.M from TIP Industry. Its catchments population is 13000.

It is 10 K.M towards south of Haripur city just on right road side of Khanpur road and its catchments population is 10000.

It is about 60 K.M towards east of Haripur city on right side of Shah Maqsood Lora road and its catchments population is about 10000.

It is one of the two BHUs of union council Najaf Pur about 45 K.M towards south of Haripur city on Tarnawa Kohala road. Its catchments population is 11000.

It is 17 K.M towards south west of Haripur city just on right road side of Hattar Taxila road and its catchments population is about 20000.

34. BHU PANIAN

It is one of two BHUs of union council Panian about 08 K.M towards west of Haripur city on right side of G.T road while heading to Peshawar and its catchments population is about 20000.

35. BHU SARAI SALEH

It is 06 K.M towards east of Haripur city on the left side G.T road while heading to Abbottabad and its catchments population is about 27000.

36. BHU SALAM KHAND

It is one of two BHUs union council Kundi about 60 K.M towards west of Haripur city and 10 K.M towards east of Ghazi. Its catchments population is 7000.

It is about 45 K.M towards south west of Haripur city close to Taxila Museum on left side of Khanpur Taxila road. Its catchments population is 19000.

CIVIL HOSPITALS

1. CH KHALABAT TOWN SHIP

It is 5 K.M towards north of Haripur City. Its status is declared as Type-C Hospital and building is under construction. Its area is 80 Kanal. As the Hospital is working in old MO residence due to dismantling of old building so only OPD services, MCH & immunization services are provided. Its catchments population is 46823.

2. CH KOTLA

This was Civil Hospital Bharray in union council Bharray (new name as Muslim Abad) and when 28 years back when BHU was sanctioned for union council Muslim Abad, the said hospital was then shifted to village Kotla of union council Muslim Abad and its started functioning there in denoted building consisting of two rooms as dispensary. But on papers its status remained as Civil Hospital.

Its approach is through Islamabad on way to Damne Koh. It is about 120 K.M towards south east of Haripur. The catchments population is about 2000. The services delivered are out patients treatment and MNCH services through WMO appointed and posted by PC MNCH Peshawar.

The said hospital has no building at present and is working in a rented shop.

3. CH REHANA

It is 12 K.M towards south eat of Haripur city on link road from Srai Saleh to Rehana. Its area is about 4 Kanal. The catchments population is 10000. The services delivered are out patients treatment, MCH, Immunization and sputum AFB.

No X-Ray Lab: in Dental facility exists.

The Hospital has only one MO residence which also needs repair. No residence for the rest of the staff is available.

 

SUB HEALTH CENTRES

 

1. SHC GARAM THOON

It is 40 K.M towards south of Haripur city on right side of Tarnawa Kohala road. Its catchments population is 3000 and services delivered are out patients and immunization.

2. SHC JAMRA

It is in Tehsil Ghazi and is 35 K.M towards west of Haripur city and 5 K.M west of Amgah. Its catchments population 2000 providing out patients services only.

3. SHC JOLIAN

It is 30 K.M towards south of Haripur city on left side of Khanpur Taxila road with a catchments population is 3000 and providing out patients services only.

4. SHC JABRI

It is 35 K.M towards south east of Haripur city on left side of Shah Maqsood Lora road. Its catchments population is 3000 and services provided are out patients treatment.

Its building needs re-construction as a whole unit.

 

 

 

5. SHC QAZIPUR

It is 80 K.M towards west of Haripur city and 10 K.M towards west of Ghazi. It falls before Ghazi while traveling from Lawrencepur to Ghazi. Its catchments population is 3000 and only out patients services are provided.

MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH CENTRES

1. MCH KHALABAT TOWN SHIP

It is 4 K.M towards north of Haripur city in Sector No.1 of KTS and providing Mother Child Health Services and deliveries services.

2. MCH HARIPUR

It is in Talokar a part of Haripur city on right side of G.T road opposite Silkway Plaza and providing Mother Child Health and delivery services.

CIVIL DISPENSARIES

1. CD GHAZI HAMLET

It is 72 K.M towards west of Haripur city and 2 K.M east of Ghazi; providing out patients services only.

2. CD KTS NO.3

It is 5 K.M towards north of Haripur city in Sector No.3 KTS. Providing out patients services. In its vicinity Save the Children USA had constructed a family health centre which is providing 24 hours delivery and MCH Services.

3. CD KTS NO.4

It is 5 K.M towards north of Haripur city in Sector No.4 KTS near residence of MPA Gohar Nawaz Khan and provides out patients services only.

4. CD KOT NAJIBULLAH

It is 10 K.M towards west of Haripur city on right side of Hattar road in mid of town providing out patients services and MCH services.

5. CD PHARARY

It is 15 K.M towards east of Haripur city providing out patients services / MCH and immunization through EPI.

6. CD CENTRAL JAIL
